The Tombolo di Feniglia connects the hill on eastern Ansedonia to the west side of Monte Argentario. It unwinds for nearly 6 km over a surface of 474 hectares. From Orbetello, you can reach it by Grand Ducal dam, while from Ansedonia you must take the Aurelia then turn onto the road from which it comes from. The Feniglia Dune Natural Reserve, that is its real name, is a state-protected area that was established in the 1971. The beach is natural and has a wild and has a beauty all its own. The golden sand, the wide beach set among the pine forest, the dunes and the limpid sea render this area one of the Tuscan Maremma’s most beautiful. To fully enjoy the nature and solitude, you must push yourself further inside where there is a long path that crosses the entire pine forest, and is accessible by foot as well as by bicycle. Immersed in an amazing natural landscape of rare beauty made up of Mediterranean Scrub, rare grasses and pine trees, it is not unusual to come upon the animals in the reserve such as fallow deer, foxes, weasels, and skunks. There are also countless spots dedicated to birdwatching. There are beach resorts with restaurants and convenient parking found at either end of the Tombolo.
